2006 ATTLEBORO
-- If you were in downtown Attleboro Thursday night and saw a familiar
face climbing a tree to hang Christmas decorations, you were right.
That really was Mayor Kevin Dumas braving the cold and drizzle to get
the city in the holiday spirit.
Earlier Thursday, Dumas decided trees near the city's landmark archway
needed a little seasonal color. He purchased some decorations from his
own pocket and, from about 10:30 to 11:30 p.m., decorated trees near the
landmark downtown archway.
At one point, the 29-year-old Dumas actually climbed the tree to secure
the lights.
"People don't realize how enthusiastic he is for things, but this
is an example,'' said City Councilor Kim Allard, who assisted him in the
decorating. "He really is something.''
Dumas has also bought a new Christmas tree and decorations and put that
up in city hall, Allard said.
