Letter to the Editor: Downtown renewal takes welcome stepWednesday, April 21, 2010 1:52 AM EDT

Finally the Downtown Development project is moving ahead!
A tremendous undertaking by mayor Dumas, former mayor Judy Robbins, now ARA chairman, and our city council has resulted in what appears to be a redefinition of what will be done. The scaled-back version will include the improvements along the Ten Mile River between Wall Stree and Olive Street. According to "River Plans Still Afloat" (April 17) walking and bike paths will line the banks of the river where long ago canoeing was a favorite activity ... and may well be again.

Hats off to mayor Dumas and those who supported him in his efforts resulting in the appointment of former mayor Judy Robbins as ARA chairman and their combined efforts in refocusing on the intended direction of our redevelopment program. The revitalization of our downtown is now in capable hands!

Doug Gobin, Attleboro
